We as parents have many chores which need to be done. Shopping is one such regular chore. We cannot always go alone. We may have to take our children with us. - Be attentive to your children’s needs. They may be hungry or thirsty. They may need some fresh air. Ensure they are comfortable. Carry some snacks with you and keep a water bottle handy.
- If they touch any items, do not scold them. Allow them to hold and admire things. If you cannot purchase the item, join in with their enthusiasm all the same.
- Take frequent breaks to nurse or feed your child if he or she is an infant.
- You can wear a sling or carrier to carry your child. You can also sit him or her in the shopping cart.
- Do not allow your child to play with items which are not safe to handle. You should keep an eye on your child all the time.
- You can involve the child in the shopping trip. Seek his or her opinion on purchases.
- Do not indulge your child while shopping. Do not buy everything he or she wants.
- Be careful of losing your child in a crowd. Constant vigilance is required to see what he or she is doing.
