What is Autism Spectrum Disorder?

Autism Spectrum Disorder, also referred to as autism or ASD, is a developmental disorder which affects the normal and social communication in both adults and children.

Causes of autism:

According to experts, autism is inherited genetically. Some people believe certain vaccines such as MMR or rubella can cause autism but there is not enough scientific evidence to support this theory therefore all vaccines are considered safe and necessary for a toddler’s overall health and development.

Signs and symptoms of autism:

  • May seem deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Exhibits repetitive behaviors such as body rocking.
  • Extreme anxiety and/or easily depressed.
  • Difficulty interacting with others.
  • Difficulty making eye contact.
  • Prone to echolalia which is word or phrase repetition.
