Four Parenting Styles

According to the researchers there are four styles of parenting. Parents follow their own parenting style according to the needs, maturity and understanding of the child. A parent is free to follow any type of Parenting Style depending upon the child. Parents can follow all the four styles or can follow only one style.

The development of the child depends upon the community, peers, family environment and cultural aspects. Somehow, these also influence the four parenting styles.

Four Parenting Styles And Sign And Symptoms Of Parenting Styles:-

Authoritarian Parenting Style:-

Signs and Symptoms:-

  • Do not allow freedom to express or ask questions
  • Make rules
  • Give order
  • Always want their child to be obedient and disciplined.

Possible Outcomes:-

  • Children will have low self-esteem and low self-confidence
  • They will become aggressive
  • They won’t be able to make decision for themselves.

Permissive Parenting Style:-

Signs and Symptoms:-

  • They set rules but very less.
  • Do not demand a lot of disciplined.
  • Do not provide structure.

Possible Outcomes:-

  • They will have problems in handling responsibility.
  • They will have low self-esteem.
  • They will be having problem in handling their frustration.

Neglectful Parenting Style:-

Signs and Symptoms:-

  • Do not involve with the child.
  • Leave the child on their own.
  • Give a lot of freedom.

Possible Outcomes:-

  • Children will have very low self-esteem.
  • They won’t be able to trust anyone.
  • They will face many difficulties such as skill development.

Authoritative Parenting Style:-

Signs and Symptoms:-

  • They set appropriate rules and regulations.
  • Firm when required.
  • Allow child to express themselves.
  • Communicates clearly
  • .

Possible Outcomes:-

  • Children will high high self-esteem.
  • They will able to control their frustrations.
  • They will be able to handle any responsibility easily.
  • It is the style pf parenting which provides warmth and growth to the child.
