Teenage Suicide

It is awful to commit suicide at any age. For a teenager who has full potential life ahead, committing suicide for them becomes more awful. Among young people aged from 15 to 24 years, suicide is the third leading cause of death.

Teenagers who commit suicide do not want to die. They just want to stop hurting themselves. You can safe a life of a teenager by talking openly about suicide and its consequences. Suffering that has become unbearable for a teenager, suicide becomes the desperate to get rid from the problem.

A teenager is not able to find peace and relief because he is loaded with the feelings of hopelessness, unhappiness, loneliness and isolation. He tends to find relief through committing suicide.

There are several ways of stopping suicidal attempt. Watch out your teens warning signs in order to prevent your teen from committing suicide.

Suicide Warning Signs:-

  • The most important sign is if your teenager has attempted suicide previously
  • You will observe the changes in your teenagers moods and feelings.
  • You will find that your teenage will throw things and get easily frustrated
  • Teens will give warning that they will die, they will say that life is not worth for a living and they will feel isolated
  • Teens will feel hopelessness and guilty
  • They will have problems in concentrating
  • You will find that your teen has started smoking and involved himself in drugs and alcohol

Reasons Behind Committing Suicide:-

  • If your teen has has failed in some exam
  • If your teen is badly humiliated
  • If your teen has loss his best friend, close family member or loved ones
  • Break up of a relationship
  • If your teen has been bullied
  • An unplanned pregnancy can also lead to suicidal attempt.
  • If your teen is having problems with law

Suicide Prevention:-

  • Talk to your teen if you observe suicide signs
  • Offer help and support to your teen.
  • Respond to your teen quickly if he is in crisis
  • Listen to your teen without being judgmental
  • If the situation is too serious, seek professional help
