Baby Developmental Milestones

Babies grow up very fast. They learn something new almost every day. In this article, we talk about a baby’s developmental milestones between birth and the first six months. Also, we categorized the skills into four parts: motor, fine motor, language, and social skills. Let’s take a look at these milestones.

6 weeks baby milestones

  • Motor skills: Your child should be able to move his/her head up and down. He/she should also move his/her head to the side.
  • Fine motor skills: He/she should follow your face and turn his/her eyes to the light.
  • Language skills: Your child should be able to respond to some specific noise, like a bell. Also, he/she should respond to your voice as well.
  • Social skills: He/she should start to smile at you. Also, your child could make some funny faces too.

3 months baby milestones

  • Motor skills: Your child will have more control on his/her head. Most of the time, he/she will open his/her hands.
  • Fine motor skills: He/she should follow a face or object from one side to another one for 180 degrees. He/she should start to blink.
  • Language skills: Your infant will reply to familiar sounds. And he/she should quiet when he/she hears your voice.
  • Social skills will begin to show themselves with smiling a lot and enjoying bath times.

4 months baby milestones

  • Motor skills: Your child will be completely able to control his/her head.
  • Fine motor skills: He/she will start moving his/her fingers.

5 months baby milestones

  • Motor skills: He/she will be able to put his/her feet in his/her mouth.
  • He/she also will reach for some objects and pick them up.

6 months baby milestones

  • Motor skills: He/she should be able to sit without any support and put his/her head up when he/she is lying down. Your child also should roll over.
  • Fine motor skills: He/she should be able to transfer two different objects between his/her hands. He/she should use both hands freely.
  • Language skills: He/she should make sounds like goo and ga. He/she should laugh a lot and copy your sounds.
  • Social skills: He/she should start to become very friendly with other people.
