What is a Parenting Plan?

When parents get divorced and children are involved, there are some decisions that have to be made e.g. where the children will live and who they will stay with. There are so many things that need to be considered by the parents and it is very normal for them to feel stressed and overwhelmed.

Parenting plan

If you do not know where to begin, you can start working on a parenting plan which includes your child’s needs, the responsibilities of each parent, financial issues and whatever else you think that would make life easier for your children.

The parenting plan is basically a document that describes the responsibilities of the parents in raising their child. You can formulate a schedule which can be simple or detailed, and must include some of the following details:-

  • Where the child will be living during the week and over the weekend.
  • How will they be transported to school.
  •  What kind of activities they participate in, the time of these activities and who will be taking them to these extra murals.
  • The plan can decide where the children will go during the school holidays and vacations.

Whatever is in your plan should be clear and understandable and every topic should be defined according to the child’s needs. Each family is different, and therefore your plan needs to fit into your lifestyle, your circumstances, economical, social and financial status..
