Children have different personalities. Some are highly sensitive, self absorbed/defiant, inattentive or active/aggressive.

Highly sensitive

Self Absorbed

Defiant

These set of children want to defy all rules and regulations. Restrictions don’t work for them. Impositions upset them. These type of children tend to be argumentative and engage in power struggles. Unlike the self absorbed children, defiant children tend to get things the way they want and may prove to be successful in studies and work in future.
These children need to practice restraint.

Inattentive

These set of children are restless, hence they are inattentive. They flit from place to place and toy to toy. Both children who overreact and under react to stimuli are found to be inattentive.

Active/Aggressive

Remember

Remember no children fit permanently into any of these groups. Children will be a mix of all those traits. To understand behaviors better, these ideal types are constructed. So parents need to be careful in dealing with their children. They should not be impatient with their children if they are slow in responding or have too less control over their motors.

Rearing up children is a challenge and parents have to face it. If you find difficulty in understanding your children and his or her behavior is causing you alarm talk to a professional.
